Radical Belonging: What It Means and Why It Matters

Welcome to Radical Belonging, a blog series that cuts through the noise to tackle the raw, messy, and transformative realities of systems, culture, self-esteem, and mental health. At its core, this series dives into one of the most essential human needs: the need to belong. Not just the surface-level fitting in — we’re talking about the kind of belonging that shakes foundations, reclaims identities, and flips the script on exclusion.

What Is Radical Belonging?

Belonging isn’t just about finding your crowd; it’s about being unapologetically seen, valued, and accepted as you are. For many, that sense of belonging feels like chasing a shadow — thanks to systems of oppression that uphold racism, queerphobia, ableism, and more. These systems weren’t built with everyone in mind, and they thrive on keeping people disconnected and small.

Radical belonging says, “Enough of that.” It’s about rejecting the status quo and creating spaces — within ourselves and the world — where authenticity isn’t just welcomed; it’s celebrated. It’s about redefining belonging as a birthright, not something you have to hustle for.

Why This Series?

At Still Point, we see it every day: the ripple effects of disconnection. Trauma isolates. Oppression silences. Unrealistic societal norms chip away at self-worth. It’s no wonder so many people feel like they’re on the outside looking in.

This series dives into the heart of these struggles, offering a blueprint for understanding and dismantling the forces that make belonging so damn hard. Through the lenses of systems, culture, and personal growth, we’ll explore what it means to reclaim connection — and why it matters for your mental health.

Who Is This For?

This series is for the ones who’ve ever felt like they’re too much or not enough. It’s for trauma survivors, those living at the intersections of marginalized identities, and anyone who’s tired of shrinking themselves to fit into spaces that don’t see them. It’s also for the change-makers — the ones ready to challenge the status quo and build something better.
